Seaworthy Astoria is my teeny business located inside Menagerie Co-Op in Astoria, Oregon (my happy place).
The name Seaworthy is an ode to the fabulous Willy Wonka movie (Gene Wilder original version, of course) and Mrs.TeeVee's quote, "She's tres jolie but is she seaworthy?"
Most of my products are inspired by the spirit of the sea and I strive to feature women-owned businesses as much as possible (right now, that's around 90%) and brands based in Oregon or the Pacific Northwest (not as high of a percentage at the moment).
Here are highlights of the brands and products currently offered at Seaworthy:
Mud & Maker's nautical-themed pottery is self-described as “inspired by natural surroundings and the people we meet - many pieces include elements of playful design, blending a colorful rustic aesthetic with just the right amount of snarky wit.” Women-owned business based in Pennsylvania (my home state).
Woven Nook provides my pillow covers, 100% cotton, made in India. This woman-owned business was inspired by world travels and a desire to offer affordable home decor. Pillow inserts are made in the US by Pillowpia based in Brooklyn and the designs are original to Seaworthy Astoria, printed at Tapestry Inkworks, a woman co-owned company based in Gresham, Oregon.
Ethics Supply Co offers ethically handcrafted products inspired by adventure. Among other natural ingredients, their bath soaks contain sea salt harvested in the Pacific Northwest. This woman-owned business is based in Jefferson, Oregon.
JAX Upcycled is "saving the world with ugly sweaters." Featuring one-of-a-kind, earth friendly, upcycled active accessories for all seasons with an emphasis on cold weather styles. I'm offering their fingerless gloves, beanies and legwarmers. Woman-owned business based in Bend, Oregon.
Whiskey + Wine started as a hobby and has since grown into a thriving small business creating hand tinted and poured candles and concrete accessories. Made from a home studio located in Portland, Oregon. Woman-owned business.
Twisted Purl began with a desire to improve color combinations and textures in the yarn industry. Evolving from handspun yarn production into felting, each felted soap offers a one-of-a-kind pattern. Plant-based soap with shea butter. No artificial dyes, isethionates, betaines, parabens, phthalates or sulfates. Woman-owned business based in Arkansas.
Lane Seven Apparel, based in LA, is on a mission to “propel the creativity of future makers, believing that when you are making things, you are propelling the creativity of the future.” Hoodies are 100% cotton, made in Nicaragua (one of the most gorgeous places I've been fortunate enough to visit in the "before days"). Designs are original to Seaworthy Astoria and printed at Tapestry Inkworks.
Dad Art lovingly makes wall creations from his garage shop in San Marcos, Texas using reclaimed materials with copper accents – in support of his daughter’s new venture, Seaworthy Asoria. (My dad, Dan. ; )
Boston International, a woman-owned company, imports the wooden anchors & fish from India.
And the handful of books I'm selling are from Random House. (Because without books, it wouldn't be me!)
I hope you enjoy my curated collection of wares. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome!
Thank you for supporting my "side hustle!"
Best,
Diana

Facebook has declined my Seaworthy Astoria account before I've even used it, saying it doesn't follow their "community standards for account integrity." Considering the integrity of most people on Facebook. I'm not sure what to make of this. But honestly, I'm very happy to exist completely outside the FB community, given the integrity of its standards.
